Four Basic Mobile Phone Designs

No matter how mobile phone manufacturers twist the designs, the phones they produce are still based on the basic shapes that can be found in a number of cellphones. Slight changes may be made but the totality of the phone will always stay the same. Here are the basic shapes.

1. Candy Bar. This design is termed as such because it is simply patterned after a candy bar or a bar of chocolate. This is the simplest design. When you have a mobile phone with this design, the keypads and screen are right in front of you.

Most candy bars are rectangular in shape with the screen on top, the function keys in the middle and the keypads at the bottom. Candy bar designed phones can be bulky or slim fit.

Based on the current trend of mobile phones, we can conclude that slim candy bar phones are selling like pancakes because it is compact and it can easily fit into one's pocket. Although, there are still some individuals who prefer the thicker candy bar phones because it is easier to hold rather than those slim fit models.

2. Flip Phones. Do you want to look all flashy and classy? Then, a flip phone might just be the right design for you. In flip phones, the screen and keypads are separated which is totally unlike the candy bar design. The top flap usually contains the screen while the bottom flap contains the keypads.

In addition, with a flip phone you can answer phone calls in two ways. First, using the answer button and second, by simply flipping the phone. The first flip phones were bulky but now these are of slim fit designs. Because it folds, flip phones can simply fit right into the palm of your hands.

3. Slide Up Phones. If you have a slide up phone, you will surely notice that the keypads are nowhere to be found unless you slide it up. Yes, with a slide up phone the keypads are cleverly hidden beneath the screen so you won't have to worry about accidentally pressing the call button especially when you are the kind of person who places his or her phone inside the pocket.

Like flip phones, you can answer calls in two ways. One is by using the answer button and second is by sliding the phone up. There are a number of slide up phones available in market today each boasting with a set of features that aim to make it user friendly.

4. Touch Screen Phones. This is the latest design and the latest craze at present. If you have checked the market, you will notice a number of touch screen phones made by various mobile phone manufacturers. With touch screen phones, you don't need a separate keypad because everything is integrated into the screen.

Touch screen phones are “touch” sensitive so you don't really have to press hard in order to make it work. When you want to use the keypad, all you have to do is press the appropriate buttons on the screen and the keypad will appear.

Remember to use only light pressure as too much pressure can surely damage the skin. In addition, touch screen phones are really sensitive so do not drop them.
